GWR King Edward I hauls passenger trains on the Nene Valley Railway for the first time
Join us for a special weekend as the magnificent GWR Class No. 6024 King Edward I makes its first-ever visit to the Nene Valley Railway.
Fresh from a comprehensive overhaul and successful return to steam, this famous Great Western Railway locomotive will be hauling passenger services throughout the weekend, giving visitors the opportunity to travel behind one of Britain's most iconic express steam locomotives.
The locomotive attends with thanks to the Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust.
About the Locomotive
Built in 1930 at Swindon Works, King Edward I is one of the famous Great Western Railway "King" Class locomotives, designed for hauling the heaviest express trains on the Great Western main line.
Following a lengthy restoration and overhaul, 6024 has recently returned to steam and main line operation, making this visit a rare opportunity to see and travel behind this impressive locomotive in Cambridgeshire.
