The Christmas White Rose Saturday 16 November 2024 Departing from St. Albans City, Luton, Bedford, Kettering, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Stamford, Peterborough Enjoy a fabulous steam hauled tour travelling along the East Coast Main Line through Newark and Doncaster over the very route used by 'Mallard' in 1938 to achieve the world speed record of 126mph with our destination of historic York for a sightseeing afternoon break and time to visit the numerous attractions and Christmas Market. Nowhere in England says 'medieval' quite like York especially in the festive season with the famous St Nicholas Market in full swing. A magnificent circuit of 13th-century walls encloses a medieval spider's web of narrow streets and at the heart of the city lies the immense, awe-inspiring Minster, one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world. York's long history and rich heritage is woven into the modern, tourist-oriented city - with attractions including the Jorvik Centre and superb National Railway Museum. The train is diesel hauled to Peterborough where one of our immaculately restored steam locomotives takes over for the return journey to York - The pool of engines include world famous LMS Royal Scot Class, No.46100 'Royal Scot' - West Country Class, No. 34046 'Braunton' - LNER 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley.
The Christmas White Rose Wednesday 20 November 2024 Departing from Rugby, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Lichfield Trent Valley, Rugeley Trent Valley, Stafford, Crewe Enjoy a fabulous steam hauled tour travelling through the impressive Pennines over two very different routes with the outward journey taking the spectacular Vale of Edale through the Peak District National Park to historic York for a sightseeing afternoon break. Returning through Wakefield and the rugged Calder Valley. Travelling through Manchester our train takes the taxing climb up Miles Platting bank and threads its way through the suburbs to join the spectacular line across the Peak District. This route is particularly scenic and encompasses several long tunnels, before passing through Sheffield. Edinburgh Christmas Pullman Wednesday 27 November 2024 Departing from Hull, Brough, Gilberdyke, Howden, Selby, Leeds, Shipley, Keighley, Skipton, Settle This special tour offers a journey on the fabulous 'Midland Pullman' to the heart of Scotland's capital where shopping is always a unique experience but at Christmas - it's truly magical, when the gardens beneath Edinburgh Castle are transformed into a Winter Wonderland with traditional Christmas markets. We travel along the spectacular Settle to Carlisle railway and through the beautiful Scottish Lowlands to Edinburgh for an afternoon break of around 3 hours.
